My Old Man is now a book.
If you were asked to write about your father, what would you say? It’s a killer question. I’ve employed it to elicit contributions to this site and, over the last couple of years, I’ve also been asking it of musicians, poets, writers, journalists and many others for a My Old Man book published by Canongate.
Funny, sad, sweet and sour, there are beautifully written, deeply personal contributions from the likes of Paul Weller, Florence Welch, Chris Martin, Tilda Swinton, Rod Stewart, Shami Chakrabarti, Shaun Ryder, Billy Childish, Nina Stibbe, John Niven, Julie Burchill, Richard Hawley and the sons and daughters of Ian Dury, Johnny Ball, Leonard Cohen, Roy Castle and many more. . .
